THE RAMBLINGS OF A STRUGGLING ARTIST ON LIFE WITH TWO TERRIERS, A PONY WITH ISSUES AND OTHER WILDLIFE AND BIRDS THAT CROSS OUR PATH

SHADES OF GREY

I refuse to allow a perfectly good phrase to be high-jacked so I'm going ahead and using it. Am feeling a bit like the skies we've had over the last few days but, funnily enough, their beauty can lift my spirits, so here they are. I noted recently that a previous post entitled 'Frisky Foal Number Two' has had SIGNIFICANTLY more hits than any other; almost double in fact. I fear this may be a depressing sign of the internet's primary use and I'll be interested to see if this one has a similar effect. Here are those skies.....

Hope they haven't depressed you too much. At least the torrential rain that comes with them runs off into the valleys and away from us. I really feel for those dealing with the flooding and other consequences of it.

Till next time.............a Snippet to cheer us up.

  1. As you already know, I love the stark wild beauty of the Moors in all it's disguises. I have always found the storm clouds/sky to be so fascinating. Beautiful photos as always!

You need to draw that lovely photo of Snippet! So darling!

    1. Funnily enough I find him REALLY difficult to draw. I think I need to use a pen and be very free with it, otherwise trying to get the varying tones of black is tricky.

  2. Snippet's deep and wonderful eyes say it all ~ beauty in (perhaps I should add 'almost') everything!

    1. When he was tiny, the eyes seemed to be jet black but, like his coat, they're going a bit brown now!

  3. I really loved the 4th photo, the 2nd last, and of course, the very last one of Snippet !!! Hoping this nasty weather finds you well, Em.

    1. The nasty weather is marginally less nasty today so perhaps your sentiments were helpful!

  4. Lovely photos, very atmospheric. I loved the pic of Snippet at the end. Yesterday I helped Phillipa trim the hair round Billy's eyes and now you can see his little face properly!

    1. I keep doing that to Snip but it seems to grow back in a few weeks and he's blind again!

  6. Careful when you're spammed Em, might need to do something about it....
Emptyiness that is what your photos say to me, gorgeous skies and and gorgeous ragamuffin of a dog ;)

    1. Good point - I hadn't thought about it in those terms; only as a technical glitch. Will seek advice.....

I spent nearly two hours out there today searching for the ponies and didn't see a single human. I know it's selfish but I do prefer it that way and will take a detour if I see people in the distance!
