Early yesterday morning started like this. I was transporting Trigger and struggling with headcollar, dog leads and camera has not gone well in the past. Therefore, these pictures were taken on my phone. So much for Spring.
I don't know if you remember me talking about my friend who had her baby very prematurely back in October. He was very unwell and died after two weeks in ICU. I didn't mention his death at the time as it was their business and just too raw. He died from a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia; something I had never heard of but which affects 1 in 2500 live births in the UK. Tomorrow we are going to a fundraising event for CDH UK, the charity that supports those affected and research into treatment and prevention. http://www.cdhuk.org.uk/ . From there we will be hotfooting it over to the Tourettes meeting - a busy day. OB's vocal ticks have been minimal for a while now which has been such a relief for him. After the heated meeting with the Paediatrician, we have now miraculously got the referral to Great Ormond Street Hospital we have been fighting for for over a year now. We've also heard from CAMHS regarding an official diagnosis of Aspergers after months of silence and what is quoted as an 18 month wait. Amazing what standing up to the system can achieve. Just a quick one today. Hail is crashing down everywhere and Trigger's hooves are due to be trimmed in an hour which promises to be an unpleasant experience for all. So until next time, another snowy view. Let's hope it's the last one until next winter.
Em....these photos are absolutely beautiful...so peaceful...love them♥️
ReplyDeleteVery sad about your friends child....good news about OB...
Good luck!
Spring looks the same here.....😟
Enjoy your weekend.
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Thanks Linda - much appreciated. X
DeleteThose lovely photos depict a very bleak morning. Hope the day improves for you. Spring seems very slow making its appearance around the world this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm rather wishing it was still like that now....it's been raining and hailing all day.
DeleteSpring is different here in Suffolk, we have sunshine and warmth - so Lucky. The driest part of the country again.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as always.
Hope things go OK for you today
Oh I do envy you but I think things are meant to improve over the weekend.
DeleteGorgeous and evocative scenes.
ReplyDeleteHave a good fundraiser and great news about OBs referral!
Jane x
We're delighted. I just hope GOSH accepts us!
DeleteYou can't miss ~ with any camera you get fabulous shots !
ReplyDeleteHope Trigger pedicure goes well.
It went really well actually. Very calm and quick which is a stark contrast from when he first arrived!
DeleteGoodness it looks a different world up there Em. Very wintry, but great shots.
ReplyDeleteI do remember your friend, and I am so very sorry to hear that the little one didn't survive. I will say a prayer for them all on Monday during our circle.
Super news on the OB score- you are so right about gritting your teeth and not giving up. It shouldn't have to be that way but I guess you can forget all that now and concentrate on the meeting and working with the diagnosis- I am very relieved for you all, I know what a tough time it has been.
Onwards and upwards dear friend x
Thanks CT.....I'll Email you. X
Deletebrilliant photos! Especially love the view of the gate. Think I'll stick to a bit of sun, this time of year, though!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny.....Lovely to hear from you. I like that one of the gate too!
DeleteI know Winter has hung around far too long but you must admit it 'looks' pretty, even if the snow isn't welcome. You have some stunning photos
ReplyDeleteIt's so photogenic Sue. Rain is a bit of a spoiler though! Thanks for visiting; I hope you'll pop back sometime.
DeleteWow where did Spring go! Glad to hear that you've had the referral you and OB have so patiently waited for - I send you good luck for it when the day comes.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much. It's been a long fight and I doubt it's actually over. You must be suffering the white stuff too over there!
Deletegoodness, I can't believe what I see and you're not that far from us! it's been sunny and mild here, with no frost! beautiful photos, especially the one which looks down the lane over the gate.
ReplyDeleteThat is our neighbour's garden, looking from their stable yard (they don't do horses), with their cattery on the left. I'm very envious of their beautiful garden and they tend it so well!
DeleteEm, some of your photos literally take my breath away. I really don't know how you do it! Even on a phone camera! Sorry to hear about your friends baby, that must have been devastating for them. I hope the fundraiser raises lots of money to help research into the condition x
ReplyDeleteI hope so too and thanks for the compliment! x
DeleteI love these snowy photos, they are so atmospheric, but makes me realise how fortunate we were when we visited the Southwest last week.
ReplyDeleteReally good news about OB - hope the referral goes well for him at Great Ormond Street Hospital when it arrives.
You certainly were - it was so beautiful wasn't it? How things change in a week.
DeleteSo pleased to hear of positive results on the medical front Em - yes I agree, you just have to stand up to them and fight - your child's life (and his childhood) is the most important thing to you and you have to stand up for him. So well done.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are lovely. I particularly like the one with the gate and the log pile (next year's Christmas card, might I suggest you start now). Sure that by the time you are reading this it will be warmer down there (according to the forecasters)
Good idea with the Christmas cards given how long it's taken the printer to do the latest ones. They are great though.....photos to follow.
DeleteThanks for your good wishes regarding the medical front. Any moral support gratefully
accepted!
Hello Em, wonderful news about getting OB's appointment. Just goes to show that voices need to be heard and you did us all proud. I greatly admire the fact that you stood up to them. Applauding here. I was greatly saddened to hear of your friend's little baby. Such a tragedy for her parents.
ReplyDeleteNow your photos, gosh they are gorgeous. Maybe you are getting tired of the snow, I know we are all longing for the weather to warm up a bit, but I did so enjoy these photos. Absolutely wonderful!
Let's hope it's the last of it for all of us Denise!
DeleteWhat utterly stunning 'wintry' images, Em. What a lot is going on in your lives.
ReplyDeleteHow true Caroline. Very succinctly put.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your friend's baby. It's always a difficult thing to know what to say.
Glad to hear that OB is doing well and super glad you have gotten the referrals and diagnosis!
We're delighted Gail - thank you. The fair went really well today and raised a lot of money.
DeleteHi Em, yikes, snow at this time of the year? I guess that is not funny for you anymore. Still, I enjoyed seeing you awesome photos very much, just don't want to be out there in the cold.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read about the death of your friend's baby. It is so incredible sad and painful when something like that happens.
Wishing you a lovely and snow-free weekend!
Christina
Thanks Christina - you too.
DeleteWow. Very atmospheric! Rain and hail here but no snow.
ReplyDeleteThat's such good news on OB's referral. Well done.
At least we've had some respite today (Saturday), bit not the sunshine we were told about earlier in the week!
DeleteEm, I think the same as everyone else about your stunning photos--They are mysterious and captivating.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your friends loss, and I hope they are finding comfort among friends and family at what I know is a sad time for them.
On the flip side, I'm glad about the news on the referral!
My friend was a tower of strength today and I can't believe the generosity of the people in her village. They sold three whole books of raffle tickets which filled a washing up bowl. Amazing.
DeleteGreat news about the referral - what a lot of energy it takes to kick the system into action though. Good on you for fighting for it. I'l be praying it goes well when the time comes. I'm sad about your friend's baby - "being there with them" seems so trite, but it's often all you can do - sharing the sadness.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are stunning - we're heading into winter and they made me want to put a wooly jumper on! I'm so glad Trigger tolerated his farrier visit. Good boy!
Trigger is a reformed character lately which makes things much easier for me. You're right about 'being there' and I hope I have been.
DeleteVery beautiful snowy photos Em, although it must have been unpleasant working outside in that weather. Trigger doesn`t have a native moustache by the looks of him! What is his breeding?
ReplyDeleteVery sad about your friend`s baby.
Hoping that the GOS referral will give OB and all of you more support as he grows into his teenage years.x
Trigger is out of a Welsh C mare and by a show pony Stallion called Ardenhall Missoni. Google him.....he's stunning. Not my type at all but beautiful. The Welsh does mean he's much hardier than he looks with his skinny legs and tiny head but I don't think he'd manage out on the moor!
DeleteThe photos are just gorgeous - so atmospheric. It looks as though its going to be warm and sunny here this weekend so hope its the same for you.
ReplyDeleteReally pleased to hear that OB has his referral and do hope you finally get more support.
It's very sad to hear about your friend's baby.
Thanks RR. The sunshine never quite made it here unfortunately but maybe tomorrow?
DeleteThe photos turned out from your phone wonderful ! Ah those days past of trimming hooves :) . Very happy you have made headway with the Aspergers
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think the phone is rubbush at taking pictures but it did a great snowy job.
DeleteHi Em, I thought of you when I heard it was snowing, and your pictures prove how bad it was for you guys. Great news about OB and his referral.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to hear the news of your friends baby, I thought things did not sound good at the time.
He just wasn't meant to live I guess. Very, very sad indeed.
DeleteMy goodness, it does look very wintry where you are. We've just had a day of gorgeous spring sunshine so it looks like another world. Your photos are so atmospheric - wonderful! I'm really pleased to hear that the system is starting to work a bit better for OB. You are right - it's only by pushing that things get done.
ReplyDeleteKeep everything crossed still though. I have visions of GOSH rejecting the referral! So pleased you've had sunshine - none for us yet this weekend.
DeleteBeautiful, but very cold looking!! I hope that the fundraising event went well and that it will go some way to helping your friend with their grieving process. Good news on the referral for OB, I see your comment above about worrying about being rejected, I can't imagine that you will, but if you do, make sure that you keep fighting for it. I don't imagine that there will be any problems though, and it is such good news that you have had the referral!! xx
ReplyDeleteWe will - thanks Amy.
DeleteThe fundraising raised an amazing £836.00!!! So impressed. I think a lot of that was the food. We had a bit of a production line going in the kitchen and I was only there for an hour of the four hours it was going.
Brilliant, what a great effort!! xx
DeleteHi Em,
ReplyDeleteyour pictures are like a beautiful dream, all the sudden a miracle can happens. Fantastic. But poor you with all the snow!
Send you sunny days
Elisabeth
Thanks Elisabeth and I'm very impressed with your English. Either that or your German is fantastic! Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you''ll drop by again.
DeleteOh my goodness what lovely photos, but it looks so cold.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't too bad actually, but I agree, it looks freezing!.Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll come back!
DeleteEchoing all above, but it Trigger grinning at you? Marvellous news about the referral for OB..
ReplyDeleteGrimacing I think Thelma!
DeleteYour images are very beautiful; they are all framed to make each one special not just a snap of snow; clever with any camera but brilliant with a phone! I hope the fundraising went well; it is sad that you have to fight the system so hard when one would hope it was ther to support you.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your lovely compliments and for visiting. I'm off to have a look at your blog now....
DeleteSo glad you have the referral to Great Ormond Street Hospital after such a struggle, We were surprised to see that Dartmoor had snow on Thursday. Did it stay around for long? Maybe it was just as well our trip on to the moors didn't materialise! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteIt was gone by about 9.30am - you wouldn't think it to look at those pictures would you? x
