Commissions finished, cooking done, presents wrapped, cards delivered and sent and all those other stressful things dealt with. Time to enjoy Christmas day. Early morning walk with the dogs. First some new brown jelly Witch's Butter or Tree ear fungus on a fallen tree:
Subtle and beautiful skies:
Then after a very light lunch in preparation for later Christmas dinner, another go. A beautiful day.
And then something ominous on the horizon which completely passed us by. I spoke to a friend four miles away as the crow flies and she said they were completely drenched. You could see the waves of sleety rain but not a drop touched us.
Lucky, except...........my main present was a pair of very expensive Berghaus waterproof trousers which didn't get a test run. They did this morning though and they're fantastic. No more sodden legs!
Happy slightly belated Christmas and thank you so much for all your support this year. xxx
And a belated Merry Christmas to you and yours! Your tree looks lovely. We decorate but no tree after many mishaps with them and the cats :)ReplyDelete
I do envy your walks. I think that is what I miss being able to do more than anything!
I bet you do Gail. When I was trussed up after my accident I was so frustrated so I do understand to an extent. I feel very lucky every day. XDelete
What a wonderful breath of fresh air!ReplyDelete
Happy Christmas. All best wishes for 2015. My daughter is spending Christmas with friends in North Devon and having lots of lovely dog walks like you. I'm jealous!
I wonder where she is? We're picking up a friend of OB's from Bideford on Sunday. Like ships that passing the night.....xDelete
I hope you are all having a good time too!ReplyDelete
Brilliant - thank you. Just very little blogging time.Delete
I'm glad you had a good day with walks and lovely photos, we had 12 here and Christmas lunch took so long we didn't get out to walk. I just had a quick dash round the field to collect eggs.ReplyDelete
Best wishes from Suffolk to you and you family for 2015
You too! The idea of feeding twelve makes me shake in my boots!Delete
Pouring down here today so your waterproof trousers will come in handy if you feel like walking my dogs for me please? !! Hope your having a great Christmas xReplyDelete
A week on and I'm so delighted with them - so comfy. You get what you pay for I suppose and I've always payed peanuts!Delete
Like us you did a lovely walk over the Moor in glorious sunshine, our walk was along lots of country paths leading to a pup where we met friends. Your Moors are wonderful and it is ways great to see a rainbow and the promise that God gave with it. Love seeing the dogs having fun. Thanks for yor greeting and I hope you enjoyed the rest of Christmas Day as wellReplyDelete
Love your typo about paths leading to a pup! We had a great time too - thanks Margaret.Delete
Your photos are so lovely I felt like I was on the walk with you, such beautiful country. My father-in-law talked about our own walk on Dartmoor last summer, and how he was amazed at all the animals wondering so freely. I think it made his holiday! A belated Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day, and A Very Happy New year Em!ReplyDelete
To you too Denise and I love it when people tell me about their own or their families experiences here. xDelete
Somehow I think those waterproof trews will get many more test runs.. xReplyDelete
Definitely the next time I see you! xDelete
Water poof trousers, what a fabulous present.ReplyDelete
Love the very merry tree and the photos of the rain storm and rainbow.
The boys look happy and they seem not to care about water proof trousers.
I think Jack would like some actually!Delete
Hi, I am your new follower. Merry Christmas. I like your photos of the land, rocks, dog, rainbow and Christmas tree.ReplyDelete
Hi Terra and so sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Welcome and thanks so much for following. A bit late to say happy Christmas but a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!Delete
I enjoy watching weather fronts, and being in the car and pointing out to the children where the rain is falling ahead and their estimate of how soon we will reach it.ReplyDelete
So difficult in a city but I guess you have so much space in the states that it's easier! I just love being able to see for so far here.Delete
I need a good pair of waterproof trousers...I'll be looking up the Berghaus make. Glad you had a good Christmas, we did too.ReplyDelete
These trousers have a sort of reinforced bit on the inside of the bottom of the legs......brilliant.Delete
Your moor is fascinating in all weathers--sometimes a bit daunting. I've come home from a walk many a time wet from just above the knee to boot tops--the best of rain coats always flop open with every stride!ReplyDelete
It can be daunting MM but I find it more so when there's mist. Happy new year to you!Delete
Sounds like the perfect gift and glad they passed with flying colours on their test-run. What lovely rainbow photos - there's always something positive about a rainbow . . .ReplyDelete
You got a better Christmas walk than us, as we only managed along to the Big House gates and back, along by the river. Better than nothing though.
All the best for 2015.
Any walk is a good walk for our health. I've been wearing a pedometer which is REALLY interesting. I average about 12,000 steps a day but lose one of my walks and it's immediately under the recommended 10,000 a day. Scary. Happy new year! XxDelete
Sounds like a lovely day, beautiful photos, we saw a rainbow on Xmas dayReplyDelete
I had a few years without any at all but there have been SO many this year.Delete
Wonderfull captures of your walk with the dogs.ReplyDelete
Love those skys with the light and Rainbow.
At the moment it is snowing down here.
No proper snow here yet unfortunately!Delete
Like the sound of those waterproofs, Em. Fab pictures as always xxReplyDelete
The waterproofs are fab even if the pics aren't! xxDelete
Hope you had a happy Christmas!. xxReplyDelete
We did - thank you! xDelete
Your weather sounds much like ours Em - I have never seen so many rainbows as we have had in the last couple of weeks or so.ReplyDelete
Glad to hear you had a good Christmas - hope things go well for you all in the new year too.
You too Pat. xDelete
Such lovely scenery, how I would love to walk in places such as yours with my pooch! The waterproof trousers sound just perfect! Have a wonderful 2015! xReplyDelete
You too Chel. Sorry I haven't visited you yet! xDelete
I always enjoy seeing the dogs gambolling and running. I miss those days when my 2 were young and full of life and energy.ReplyDelete
I hope all is well with you and your little family x
All's fine - thank Kath, other than being completely snowed under with boring stuff! xDelete
If I don't get the chanceReplyDelete
