CHRISTMAS WALKS

Commissions finished, cooking done, presents wrapped, cards delivered and sent and all those other stressful things dealt with. Time to enjoy Christmas day. Early morning walk with the dogs. First some new brown jelly Witch's Butter or Tree ear fungus on a fallen tree:

Subtle and beautiful skies:

Then after a very light lunch in preparation for later Christmas dinner, another go. A beautiful day.

And then something ominous on the horizon which completely passed us by. I spoke to a friend four miles away as the crow flies and she said they were completely drenched. You could see the waves of sleety rain but not a drop touched us.

Lucky, except...........my main present was a pair of very expensive Berghaus waterproof trousers which didn't get a test run. They did this morning though and they're fantastic. No more sodden legs!

Happy slightly belated Christmas and thank you so much for all your support this year. xxx

  1. And a belated Merry Christmas to you and yours! Your tree looks lovely. We decorate but no tree after many mishaps with them and the cats :)

I do envy your walks. I think that is what I miss being able to do more than anything!

  4. I'm glad you had a good day with walks and lovely photos, we had 12 here and Christmas lunch took so long we didn't get out to walk. I just had a quick dash round the field to collect eggs.
Best wishes from Suffolk to you and you family for 2015

  6. Like us you did a lovely walk over the Moor in glorious sunshine, our walk was along lots of country paths leading to a pup where we met friends. Your Moors are wonderful and it is ways great to see a rainbow and the promise that God gave with it. Love seeing the dogs having fun. Thanks for yor greeting and I hope you enjoyed the rest of Christmas Day as well

  7. Your photos are so lovely I felt like I was on the walk with you, such beautiful country. My father-in-law talked about our own walk on Dartmoor last summer, and how he was amazed at all the animals wondering so freely. I think it made his holiday! A belated Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day, and A Very Happy New year Em!

  9. Water poof trousers, what a fabulous present.
Love the very merry tree and the photos of the rain storm and rainbow.
The boys look happy and they seem not to care about water proof trousers.

  11. I enjoy watching weather fronts, and being in the car and pointing out to the children where the rain is falling ahead and their estimate of how soon we will reach it.

    1. So difficult in a city but I guess you have so much space in the states that it's easier! I just love being able to see for so far here.

  13. Your moor is fascinating in all weathers--sometimes a bit daunting. I've come home from a walk many a time wet from just above the knee to boot tops--the best of rain coats always flop open with every stride!

  14. Sounds like the perfect gift and glad they passed with flying colours on their test-run. What lovely rainbow photos - there's always something positive about a rainbow . . .

You got a better Christmas walk than us, as we only managed along to the Big House gates and back, along by the river. Better than nothing though.

    All the best for 2015.

    1. Any walk is a good walk for our health. I've been wearing a pedometer which is REALLY interesting. I average about 12,000 steps a day but lose one of my walks and it's immediately under the recommended 10,000 a day. Scary. Happy new year! Xx
